What we collect and why
Messages store an optional name, email, text and time for replies and corrections. Connection information is used for temporary rate limits, not stored in new message records. Contributions store a nickname, private email, trip date, locations, text, optional photos and publishing consent for review and publication; temporary hashed identifiers limit abuse. We do not add you to marketing lists.
What becomes public
Messages and email addresses stay private. After review, the nickname, story and approved photos may be published. Images are re-encoded to remove original metadata and stored privately before review. Do not upload identity documents, home addresses or others’ private data.
Retention and your choices
Unpublished contributions and photos are removed after 90 days. Published stories remain until withdrawn; their contact emails are removed 180 days after submission. Messages are kept for handling and documenting enquiries; deletion is currently manual. You may request access, correction, deletion or withdraw publishing consent. Backups may temporarily retain copies during recovery cycles. You can complain to Spain’s AEPD.
Services, storage and browser preferences
The site runs on OVH; notifications use Gmail SMTP to the site administrator. The new site adds no advertising tracking or marketing subscriptions. Language and saved routes stay in your browser; administrator login uses WordPress cookies. External maps, venues and articles have their own policies. We do not make automated decisions or profiles.
